Network Administrator

Description
A Network Administrator at pcit ensures proactive steps to manage and optimize each customers IT infrastructure is being implemented. This role is key in delivering a stabilized network environment and reducing reactive support requests. A Network Administrator will also deliver scheduled onsite support that has been escalated from the reactive Customer Care Centre (Service Desk) as well as new technology implementations that require onsite support. The right candidate will have a combination of technical skills, business and communication capabilities that will assist customers and staff in their goals.
The right candidate should be comfortable working in a fast paced organization that moves quickly like a start up company would. This can include extended hours and overnight travel requirements at times.
Position Requirements
Technical Capabilities
• Extensive technical knowledge and support experience with network and PC operating systems, including Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Server and Microsoft Exchange.
• Installation and migration of Windows Server, Exchange infrastructure preferred.
• Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including IP, IPSec VPN’s, and traffic shaping.
Business and Communication Capabilities
• Interpersonal and communication skills that lead to an outstanding customer service experience
• Appreciation of the business impact of IT management and work habits that contribute to a ‘zero down time’ environment.
• Highly self motivated and directed.
• Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
• Comfortable working in a environment of accountability – (We strive to be the best in the industry and measure constantly to make sure this is occurring.)
Travel Capabilities
• Preference given to candidates who can either relocate to Peace River, AB or travel 4-6 nights per month.
Formal Education, Certification or Experience
• College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 5 years equivalent work experience.
• Certifications in Microsoft Infrastructure or Microsoft Exchange preferred.
• Certifications from Vendors such as IBM, HP, Dell or, VM Ware, Cisco or Fortinet an asset.
